Ice Hockey Shutdown for 2 Weeks Effective October 23rd @ 5:00pm

Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases across the Commonwealth of MA, and the number of clusters, approximately 30 according to Public Health Officials, that have been linked to organized hockey, the Acting Commissioner of the MA Department of Public Health issued an order this evening banning all indoor ice rinks, indoor skating and hockey facilities from hosting games, practices or any other on-ice hockey or skating activities for the period beginning at 5:00pm on Friday, October 23rd and ending at 12:01am on November 7th.

As a result, all Woburn Youth Hockey and Mass Bay Warrior on-ice activities, including, games, practices, on-ice skills and learn-to-skate sessions have been cancelled through November 7th.

While we are hopeful that this 2 week shutdown is only temporary and activities will be allowed to resume on November 7th, Public Health officials plan to use this time to reassess the current protocols and guidelines and it is unclear at this time if additional restrictions will be placed on the sport of ice hockey.

This serves as an important reminder to all of us about the importance of not becoming complacent and continuing to follow the protocols and guidelines to keep our communities safe and to allow us to resume the activities that we love in the safest manner possible.

Please continue to check our website, Twitter and Facebook pages for the most up-to-date information.

Thank you!
